Brain Swirls

I really want to accomplish some big things this year. The publishing of my first book is already in motion but it’s only the beginning. There are other books that live in my head. There are other creative endeavors I’d like to touch. Plus I want to get back to school and I have to read more. I also want to paint and have a lovely landscape painted waiting for the elephant I want to paint there. All of this swirls in my head and leaves me feeling blocked up.

Where do I begin? I need focus. I bought a colorful planner and have my colorful gel pens but all I’ve done is write my name on page 1 in purple. I just read about having a word of the year to inspire. I’ve actually read about this twice now so I think I’ll give it a try. A word to focus on when all I want to do begins to swirl. I thought about using the word WRITE but for some reason that word feels like a bully at times. When I read it I am both inspired and convicted. No, I need something gentler that will beckon me to a place where I can unlock the words. So

I’ve narrowed it down to two words that seem soft and sweet while inspiring motion on my part. The words are EXPRESS and CREATE. Both are equally challenging and exciting to me but I’m thinking the latter will win the role. What do you think? Can you suggest another? When I choose a word I plan on painting it on canvas so I can keep it in front of me all year.
